The Bellwether Marathon
This site stores as little as it can. Here is all of it.
Finish Line entries. If you sign the Finish Line after finding the Killer, we keep what you typed: a first name or initials, a town, a country if you gave one, and your one line. It is shown publicly to other solvers once approved. Nothing else is attached to it.
A rate-limit counter. To stop a script trying every race number, we count checks by IP address. The count is kept in memory for one hour and then forgotten. It is not written to disk.
Contact messages. If you use the contact form, we keep your name, your email address and your message so we can reply.
A session cookie. A correct check sets one cookie so the pages behind the door stay open for you. It holds your solver number and nothing about you.
Nothing about your guesses. Not the names you try, not the numbers, not whether you were right or wrong. The only figures kept are a daily count of correct checks and a daily count of wrong ones, with nothing attached to either.
No analytics that set cookies. No advertising. No tracking across other sites.
The name you type on the certificate is used to print it and is not sent anywhere or kept, unless you also sign the Finish Line.
